Match Report
The Seniors ran onto the ground following Kelly Dungate who celebrated her 50th game. Ash Gaddes in the backline had a wonderful and strong debut performance. Renegade defenders consistently robbed the Wests of scoring opportunities, with standout performances from all who defended. A special mention to Andie Bleicher who held on to every mark sent her way in the defensive 50 and to Monica Gray who ran down her player like a leopard at meal time, landing a textbook tackle. Captain Woodhouse took some courageous marks throughout the game, which was followed up by Palombi’s outstanding ruck performance against a much larger opponent. Emily T-Bag Taylor scored the most slow motion goal of the season with the entire field of players looking on watching the ball dribble through for a well needed and deserved goal.
Brunswick West took advantage of their opportunities in the closing half, cementing their control of the game in the final quarter. Overall the Battle of Brunswick was fought with great sporting spirit and as always the Wests are a great club to play against.
