The conditions were perfect for football this Saturday at Gillon Oval. The reserves set the precedent with a marvelous start to their game. Reserves owned the corridor all day, and pressured the opponents wide and forced turnover after turnover and kept the ball in the Renegades forward half for majority of the day.
The link ups through the midfield were amazing with options to pass it off everywhere. The team was gelling perfectly and some fantastic passages of play including the play of the day from Amy Lee and Maddie Wright taking the ball half way up the field with handball, run, shepherds and even a bounce into the forward fifty. The 1%’s as we call them were the backbone of the team helping get it into the fifty time and time again. Grace and Eliza provided silver service to the mids all afternoon as well as great taps and intercept marks. Vanessa Tsacos and Anastasia Luise both bagged three goals.
Gem Costello and Evie M got their first ever goals for the comp and Erin Furness pushed forward after sunbaking down at full back for three quarters and snagged the most nonchalant goal ever kicked. It was a well deserved win for the reserves who kept Monash Blues scoreless.
