Match Report
Saturday’s conditions were icy cold and wintry but that didn’t stop the Renegades giving it their all in a double header clash against St Mary’s Salesians in Glen Iris. The Reserves were looking to get another win under their belt after being in fantastic form the last few rounds. It was a close and tough match for the ressies, taking on the team above them on the ladder.
Going head to head early in the game, possessions were being matched and the pressure was being applied throughout the field. Two goals scored in the second quarter by Rachel and Killer had St Mary’s on the run, but unfortunately it was not the ressies day on the scoreboard. The backline did a marvellous job and kept St Mary’s from scoring a goal in the fourth quarter. Lara went down with a sprained ankle and there was a lot of hard ball wins and clearances from the midfield which kept the Renegades in the game. Vanessa kicked a well deserved goal, inspiring a mini fight back but in the end St Mary’s won the game by 23 points.
