Match Report
On a bitterly cold Saturday afternoon in Albert Park, the Renegades came out firing against a quality outfit in South Melbourne.
We took advantage of the strong breeze by winning the ball around the contest and moving the it forward with great purpose. Kara, Mel E and Em T were looking dangerous up forward by playing front and finding space. Gem was ducking and weaving out of traffic and kicked a wonderful long range goal to get us really up and about. Mel Everett followed up not long after with ripper snap on target.
Things tightened up in the second quarter, and our mids and backs led by Loz and Eliza kept ‘the bloods’ at bay.
After half time, South Melbourne came out full of run despite the heavy conditions and were starting to find space around the ground. Bec and Jane led our defense and helped us stay in a promising position.
In the end, the Reno’s went down to a resilient opponent late in the last quarter but should be really proud of their effort and endeavour.
