Match Report

Reserves

The ressies faced up to local rivals West Brunswick in a friendly scratch match on a drizzly Saturday afternoon.

Loz was back from injury, and had immediate impact playing and had an immediate impact landing a great tackle then quickly playing on in the first passage of play. Welcome back to Loz!

We battled well throughout the day and created good opportunities in the first half highlighted by Em T slotting a lovely set shot from the pocket.

Acting Captain Goodsey, Liz, and Gem ran hard and competed well.

Katie and Claire marshalled the backline well against a formidable forward line.

Jenny played her first footy game ever, and enjoyed the contest and did the Reno colours proud.

West Brunswick got on top of the Ressies in the third quarter and ran away with it through quick and clean ball use, and making the most of the their forward entries.

So some good lessons learnt from a quality side, and all in all a good hit out to shake off the long weekend cobwebs.

Seniors

Coming off the long weekend, the Prems were looking forward to getting out there on a beautiful Saturday twilight game, albeit sans coach Leonie who was unwell.

Kate “Mad Dog” Sullivan was back to play her 50th game after a long stint on the sidelines and was dangerous up forward.

The Reno’s came out and started well with the ball mainly in our forward half but could only manufacture 1 goal, while Old Melburnians were able to kick 2 against the flow with fast transition.

With sun now fully set, Qtrs 2 and 3 were a tight and contested affair played under lights with Woodhouse, Snowy, and the returning Clarky leading the team in the middle.

Goals from Kate and Caitlyn kept our noses in front, while our backline led by Pia, Jose and Tahlia were rebounding well.

To Old Melburnians credit, they never let up and the final quarter was a thrilling and high pressure battle with only a kick in it for the final few minutes. In the end, the Reno’s showed great resolve to hold out for a tough win.
