Match Report
The Renegades knew they were going into a tough game when they came up against an undefeated Yarra Old Grammarians at Gillon Oval on a blustery Saturday afternoon.
From the opening bounce both teams hit every contest with hard, strong footy. Bruising bumps and tackles looked like they’d be the theme of the day.
With the wind was blowing strong towards the croquet club end Woodhouse played the definition of a captain’s game, leading well and playing her heart out in the midfield.
Morgs’ work down back, reading the play, breaking lines and taking the game on was great to see. Whilst Snowy’s dominating form across half back continued with a goal saving tackle in the goalsquare a highlight for all watching.
At 3/4 time the scores were tied and Yarra had the wind. A fantastic crowd of ressies and supporters were very vocal and the atmosphere was electric. Could the Renos snatch victory from the league leaders?
A 50m penalty to Fern which got her within goal kicking distance gave the Renos the lead. Could we hold off Yarra and give them their first defeat of the year? When Caitlin dodged through traffic and snapped truly the match was sealed, the Renos had the points!
A fantastic team effort, we never gave up and applied pressure to the opposition at every contest and it got us the biccies!
