Match Report
Plagued with injury from round 4, the Prems line-up saw several more debut players taking the field. Freya was welcomed in after a convincing two-goal start in their first game with the Renegades. Jess “Stocko” Stockton also stepped up to the plate with her sharp defensive skills.
A big crowd had gathered to watch two veteran Renegades take the field for their 50th games. Amy “Big D” Dillon and Tbag broke through their own separate banners, which were made lovingly by their teammates. We love seeing more of our Renegades making their milestone matches as the team continues to make their own history in a developing league. The Junior Dragon’s joined the warm-up and run out with the Renegades, players loving seeing the older and younger versions of themselves donned in the purple and green.
It was a fast-moving game with Woodhouse, Shelly and Emily “Badsy” Collins working hard through the midfield to create some great opportunities. A quick outback handball from Kingi saw Tbag snap an early goal and put the Renegades in the lead, holding it for 3/4 of the game. Determined to make the half-century a glorious one, Grace Kendall lined Tbag up with a beautiful kick to the hotspot. This resulted in a nice easy set shot at goals to strengthen the lead further.
Ivanhoe dribbled a few balls over the line to break even in the fourth quarter and create an edge of your seat last five minutes. The crowd was heavy in support for a Renegade win and could just about be heard from Sydney road, but sadly Brunswick walked away with a two-point defeat.
There were some wins, though! The breast cancer cake stall fundraiser was a massive success, with fans enjoying an amazing spread put on by the Senior Women’s and Junior Girls teams.
