Match Report
Another week, another narrow loss to a team well above us on the ladder. It was a beautiful day for footy and the ground was in great condition after a wet and cold week. We got off to a good start, with Brendan Wills bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm into a team he used to call his own. Kingy, Cassel, Browny and Spud all started well, getting the ball forward quickly and often to the advantage of the forwards. Whitefrias one point up at quarter time.
After Nathan Hrovatin sneaked forward to kick his first goal for NOBs, news came down that Adam Oakley pull out late in the seniors to give Nath a call-up and leaving only three on the ressies interchange.
The home side got on top in the second quarter, kicking away to a 15 point lead at the main break. Cam Fox, Tommy Emmett, Gabe and Jimmy Grints solid as always down back.
Third quarter was our best, kicking 3 goals as we brought the margin to within 3 points at 3qtr time. Hunts, King, Biz, O’Donoghue, Scullie, Rapa all busy in what set up a promising last quarter.
The last quarter we ran out of legs, with none on the bench and despite strong efforts from Davo, Cam, Kingy, Hunts, Spud, etc. the home side got up by 10 points.
5 things we learnt:
- Don’t take the road passed the Zoo on the way to the footy on Sat morning.
- Brendan Wills loves footy.
- Oaks, next time you have a sore back please suck it up.
- The funnel was in action.
- We can’t rely on Bubsy to take hangers every week.
