Match Report
There was a real sense of optimism and expectation for Brunswick NOBSPC about Saturday’s home game against Oakleigh on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the VAFA. A bright start, with an early goal to the in-form Chris Ford and plenty of forward entries, added to the mood.
Unfortunately it did not last very long, as missed chances in front of the sticks and a run of four quick goals to our opponents had a deflating effect. We managed the next two goals of the game on either side of quarter-time to get back on level terms, but then did not manage another until the start of the final quarter, in which time the bird had flown. The Krushers then lived up to their name as they overran us late in the game.
All-in-all, the only description of the game can be disappointing.
Better players were hard to find. The dependable Geremie Ganino was again good on the ball, team leaders Cam Fox and Lachlan Ezard tried hard in defence, while newcomer Tristian Doody showed some class. Danny King and Chris Horsley were also good at times.
We have a week off to regroup before a season-defining game against Ivanhoe at Gillon Oval. See you there.
