Match Report

Hang on, are those goalkickers and best players correct or are they from 2005? Tonkin 5.0, Sleep 2.4 and both in the best! What a way for these two legends of the club to celebrate the biggest games milestones in our history.  And they were again in the best in the post-match celebrations!

It was a great day for the boys and the club as we dominated MHSOB from start to finish. By half-time we had 15 goals on the board, with 6 coming from the boots of the 300-gamers.  Another 4 had come from the boot of Matt Chapman playing in his very first game for the club. Talk about the old and the new combining. Our third quarter was a little lackluster but another 7 goals in the final term saw us run out 107-point winners.

There were plenty of good players on the day, but it was fitting that Pat Kelly was named BOG as he had organized the hugely successful ladies’ day. He had spent all Friday night and Saturday morning setting up which must have got his adrenalin pumping. Tonks and Sleepy definitely wound back the clock, while Keown (another 5 goals) and Shepherd again ruled. You get the feeling that a real big bag is coming for Kewy on the weeks ahead. The improvement of Jez Nettlefold and James Mirtschin continues on a weekly basis, which is great to see.

We did what we had to do on Saturday and the boys can enjoy a well-earned rest before making a real run at securing a top four spot in the weeks ahead.
