Back in Division Two, the Brunswick NOBs recorded their first win since the 2019 preliminary final with a comprehensive thrashing of Manningham Cobras at Gillon Oval. The victory was due reward for our hardworking and talented coach Tom Hunter after a tough first year at the club and was celebrated appropriately at the Season Launch on Saturday night.

On Saturday at Gillon Oval Brunswick faced their first true test of the season in the form of arch rivals Old Paradians and the game did not disappoint as a contest, with only a kick separating the sides at the 25-minute mark of the third quarter before the NOBs slammed on three quick goals which proved to be critical in taking them to a hard-earned victory and a 4-0 start to the year.

On a day of drama at Garvey Oval on Saturday, arch rivals Old Paradians shot out to a commanding lead in the third quarter before Brunswick reeled them back in, then hit the front at the start of the final term, but couldn't hold on as the home side kicked the last two majors of the game to sneak home by six points.

Brunswick got back on the winners’ list at Ted Ajani Reserve on Saturday with a solid 49-point victory over Bulleen-Templestowe, although early in the third quarter it had threatened to be double that margin after the NOBs had slammed on 13 unanswered goals playing some quality football.

Back at Gillon Oval on a true mid-winter's day, Brunswick displayed a grim determination to not trip up against sixth-placed Aquinas, which ultimately carried them to a 54-point victory and back to third on the ladder.

With their season on the line, Melbourne High School Old Boys threw everything they had at Brunswick at Gillon Oval on Saturday and up until the very last minute it looked as though they had done enough to win, but in a spine-tingling finish the NOBs hit the front for the first time since early in the game, only for the visitors to scramble a behind to tie things up with seconds left.
