The impact of Covid on the community over the last two years is undeniable, and the footy community is no exception. The Renegade's numbers in pre-season have been unusually low as Covid continues to wreak havoc and people make up for lost time with family and friends. Our opposition, Ivanhoe, struggled to field a Reserves side and many players needed to play two games. This is a challenge many clubs face, and Round One was a good indicator of what may be ahead.
Round 2
1.3-9 | 7.5-47 | 9.7-61 | 12.12-84
Brunswick Renegades
|
1.1-7 | 1.1-7 | 1.2-8 | 1.2-8 |
Filling two teams is still a challenge for the Renegades, so Prems ran out with seven players with a game already in their step count for the day.
Round 3
Brunswick Renegades
|
4.2-26 | 7.4-46 | 9.7-61 | 11.9-75 |
0.0-0 | 0.2-2 | 0.2-2 | 0.2-2 |
Nothing beats that first home game feeling, and conditions couldn't have been more perfect for the battle of Brunswick in round three against North Brunswick.
Round 4
0.0-0 | 1.1-7 | 2.1-13 | 3.4-22
Brunswick Renegades
|
2.3-15 | 2.3-15 | 3.4-22 | 3.4-22 |
Another beautiful day for footy, and with the fresh mornings and rains coming in, Melburnians know just how precious few warm days we have left. A bit of a mix up from usual this week with a Sunday game; the Renegades were coming in with the best of the weekend already under their belt.
Round 5
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.1-1 | 0.1-1 | 0.1-1 | 0.1-1 |
4.2-26 | 7.3-45 | 7.10-52 | 10.13-73 |
From the get-go, it was clear it would be a sluggish game. Conditions were pitiful, after a big downpour in the first quarter and on and off rain ensured a heavy ball and slippery conditions throughout the game.
Round 6
0.2-2 | 1.3-9 | 2.3-15 | 2.7-19
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.1-1 | 0.1-1 | 0.5-5 | 0.6-6 |
Conditions were ripe on Saturday for a slip' n' slide match, which always makes it fun to watch, and the Prems game was an absolute cracker this week!
Round 7
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.0-0 | 2.0-12 | 5.1-31 | 6.2-38 |
0.2-2 | 1.4-10 | 1.4-10 | 1.4-10 |
The Prems didn't fail to deliver when it comes to exciting footy this week. There is nothing quite like the sun shining over Gillon Oval on a warm May afternoon and the crowds that gather to enjoy the atmosphere. It's great to see former players bringing their new families along to meet their footy family and the locals who have joined in over the years to become part of the Renegade Brigade. Nothing like a home game to make you feel part of a community.
Round 8
Brunswick Renegades
|
1.0-6 | 1.0-6 | 1.0-6 | 2.1-13 |
1.0-6 | 3.1-19 | 3.3-21 | 3.3-21 |
Conditions were football perfect on Saturday afternoon; no wind, no rain, no worries. Parkdale Vultures had gotten the better of the Renegades in round two on their home turf, but round 8 was a home game, and the Renegades were ready to go.
Round 9
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.0-0 | 1.1-7 | 1.1-7 | 2.1-13 |
0.0-0 | 0.1-1 | 0.2-2 | 1.2-8 |
The Renegades were looking extra sharp this week for the team photo, and that polished look played out on the field against Hawthorn. The previous defeat only three weeks earlier was still fresh on players' minds as they rolled out onto the field.
Round 10
0.4-4 | 1.6-12 | 2.8-20 | 2.9-21
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.0-0 | 1.0-6 | 1.0-6 | 2.2-14 |
A huge mention to the four players who had their senior debut: Kiah Pearce, Darcy Powell, Elsie Daddow and Meg McNeel, the future is bright for 2023!
Round 11
Brunswick Renegades
|
1.0-6 | 1.0-6 | 2.1-13 | 3.1-19 |
0.1-1 | 0.4-4 | 0.4-4 | 1.4-10 |
We were greeted with a sunny winter afternoon at Gillon oval, and our captain won the toss and chose to kick with the wind (something Trent Cotchin should have done in 2014 against Port Adelaide - but that's another story).
Round 12
3.3-21 | 5.6-36 | 8.7-55 | 10.8-68
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.1-1 | 1.2-8 | 1.3-9 | 2.3-15 |
Beautiful playing conditions this week; a nice dry and firm field and not a breath of air made for excellent footy weather. A pleasant drive home from Mentone if you took the scenic route and got some of that winter sunsets over the horizon. The drive there, not so much.
Round 13
Brunswick Renegades
|
0.2-2 | 0.2-2 | 0.2-2 | 0.3-3 |
3.1-19 | 3.2-20 | 3.2-20 | 4.2-26 |
Pride Round is always a special one for the Renegades, with players represented across the LGBTIQ spectrum finding a place to call home in our team. We are proud of them for their valuable contributions to our team and our community, even in the face of political and social adversity.
Round 14
1.1-7 | 2.3-15 | 2.5-17 | 3.7-25
Brunswick Renegades
|
2.1-13 | 4.3-27 | 4.4-28 | 4.7-31 |
The Renegades wanted to make sure they saw their coaches out with a bang, and boy did they put on a show.
