Match Report
Another horror first half in a home game put paid to Brunswick’s hopes of a win over Kew on Saturday.
Disappointing is the only way to describe those first two quarters, as we went goalless against a team only one place ahead of us on the ladder. We were thrashed out of the middle and found Kew to be too speedy on the wide spaces of Gillon Oval.
The fact we managed seven goals in the second half prevented a total annihilation, as the dangerous Chris Gavaghan, probably our best player on the day, took a number of strong marks and kicked three majors.
Popular clubman Dean Beaumont played his 100th game and battled hard, as he always does, and a goal to him in the final quarter was a highlight on a dark day.
Ben Wilson continued his good form, while the reliable Geremine Ganino and James Moverley put in for four quarters.
We are at home again this week against Oakleigh, when we will be looking to get off to a much better start to give ourselves a proper chance of a much-needed win.
