Match Report

The firsts took the field with 5 changes from the winning side last week, all overcome with a pooh bear sighting. Minor injuries requiring rest. We welcomed back Glenn Maxton out since round 1, Eamon Hancock, Simon Harwood and Paul Bryar since before the break. Jack Nihill promoted for his first senior game for this season. The team were led thru the banner by 200 gamer Dan Tonkin and they all must have been pumped as we kicked 5.4 to 4 points in that quarter. Aquinas hit back in the second to be 2 points adrift at the half time hooter. A scoreless second quarter not a good sign for the Cobbers. The break did the world of good as we had most of the play in the third quarter but were not scoring, Josh Cassell was hit late and the down the field free kick gave us the goal to kick on, we kicked 4.4 to 2 goals to hold an 18 point lead. We extended that lead to eventually run out winners by 24 points. A good gutsy win by the boys as we had no reserves left from half way thru the third quarter. I am not sure but the phone call to myself (Mal) from Terry Scanlon whilst heavily involved in a business meeting, but from that moment on his positive thoughts must have inspired the boys to a better game. Congrats to Dan Tonkin for 200

Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we will get some of our injured players back on the park.
