We are thrilled about Harry O’Farrell, the son of Club legends Peter and Sally, being drafted to Carlton as a key defender with pick 40. The O’Farrell family has played an important role in the modern history of our Club. Peter was a star player who captained the NOBs in 1997 and served on the committee with distinction for over a decade, while Sally was a key organizer of many of the major events the Club ran successfully in the 1990s and 2000s.
Harry started his footy career at Brunswick JFC in 2015 in the Under 9s, making him the third Dragon to be drafted to the AFL, alongside Francis Evans (Geelong) and Krstel Petrevski (Melbourne), before moving to Maribyrnong Park in the EDFL. He proceeded to star as a “swingman” for St Kevin’s College in the APS, progress through the pathways with Calder Cannons and represent Vic Metro in the National Under 18 Championships.
Making it all the more exciting for Harry and the O’Farrell family is that they are all died-in-the-wool Bluebaggers (remembering, of course, that POF got Crippa off at the tribunal so he could win the 2022 Brownlow)! We congratulate Harry and can’t wait to follow his journey in the big league.
