I’m a bonafide Brunswick local – I grew up about 5 blocks from Gillon.

Do you have a nickname and why?
On field I’m always Schmidty. Smith is a pretty boring last name so when I started learning German in high school my friends translated it to Schmidt, and it stuck.

Primary school in Brunswick, then high school in the city.

What has been your greatest sporting achievement?
Winning my first kick boxing fight was pretty rad.

Best personal on ground highlight in a Renegade game?
Getting a mark in our defensive 50 with about 10 seconds to go when we were only a couple points up – I like to think I saved the game.

Have you had any major injuries?
I fractured my foot last year. I had to have surgery on it which was a bummer.

What position do you play?
I’ve moved into the backline this year after being a Winger for the last two seasons.

AFL/AFLW team?
The Dees!

Favourite player in the AFL/AFLW?
Darcy Vescio is pretty hilarious off the field. Max Gawn on the field for sure.

Best thing about playing for Brunswick?
Not having to play against Kelly/House/Mad Dog!

Best Renegades player seen on the field at Brunswick?
JP’s chase down tackle in last year’s quarter final was pretty amazing.

Best Renegades player seen off the field at Brunswick?
Crispy leading the interpretive dance session.

Teaching.

Do you have a pre-game ritual?
Forcing myself to eat something is hard enough – I’m always nervous!

Fave tune to get pumped up to before the game?
Daft Punk – One more time.
