Dear Members & Supporters

We hope you all had a happy Festive Season and are enjoying summer. Things are certainly heating up for our men’s and women’s teams as they get stuck into pre-season training and plans are well underway for a number of early season events.

Pre-season update

NOBSPC are back training Monday and Thursday while the Renegades are on Wednesday, all at Clifton Park West. Numbers have been strong (especially the women – the above photo was taken on 18 January!) but, as always, it is the more the merrier so please get down to get those early runs on the board.

NOBSPC have a pre-season camp at Daylesford on 24-26 February and practice matches lined up against UHS VU on 18 March, Prahran Assumption on 25 March and West Brunswick on 1 April.

Go Fund Me – lighting for Clifton Park West

Speaking of our pre-season training ground, we are still seeking to have lights installed on Clifton Park West to accommodate our ever-expanding senior and junior clubs. Our sponsorship and fundraising manager, Leonie Kroehnert, has set up a Go Fund Me page to assist our clubs to raise our pledged contribution towards the expected $180,000 cost. We also have a pledge from AFL Victoria but need the Moreland City Council to commit to installing the lights. Please support us at:

Brunswick Football Festival – Saturday 1 April at Gillon Oval

The week before the VAFA season starts we are playing a series of practice matches against West Brunswick, involving all senior teams, highlighted by the last game being played under lights. We may also squeeze in some junior matches early in the day.

We are also planning for a number of off-field festivities and activities to make it a memorable carnival-type occasion. Further details will be provided soon but keep the date safe.

Round 1 – Saturday 8 April – Past Players’ Day at Gillon Oval

As we have done for the past two years, at our first home game we will be holding a Past Players’ pre-match function in the Social Club. Spread the word early so we get as many along as we can to what is always a ripper catch-up.

Wrap of 2016 AGM – New Committee & Life Members

For 2017, Tim Purdey, Christian Ryan and Peter Hevey return as President and Vice-Presidents respectively. Chris Ford and Dan O’Donoghue have stood down as Secretary and Treasurer, replaced by Mal Cole and Bernie Skahill. We thank Chris and Dan for their hard work, as well as Lachlan Ezard who has also stepped off the Committee. We welcome Leonie Kroehnert to the Committee, joining Jarryd Browne, Graeme Ford, Garry Foulds, John Glossop, Kim Hennessy, Trevor Ludeman and Dom Perrone.

It was extremely pleasing that four current players were appointed Life Members of the Club, being Jarryd Browne, Chris Ford, Danny King and Chris Le Maitre. An event to honor (or roast) them will be held early in the year. Congratulations to all of them.

Bye for now.
