After a cancelled 2020 VAFA season and truncated 2021 fixture, the continuity of our Brunswick Junior Football Club to Brunswick NOBs pathway was disrupted as Gillon Oval hosted mostly dogwalkers through lockdown(s). Unable to gather enough numbers for a full Under 19s side, the club decided to put the U19 team on hiatus when local footy returned in 2022.

Some of the local U19 talent stuck around the senior club, bumping up to play with our magoos and gain experience against more mature opponents. The injection of youth helped Brunsick NOBs reserves to a 16-2 home/away record and they went undefeated in finals to take out the 2022 VAFA Division 2 Reserves premiership.

We’re happy to announce our U19s return for 2023 to rejoin VAFA Under 19 Division 4, with the 2023 fixture announced this week. Some of our 2022 reserves men team will rejoin the U19s to play with BJFC Colts making the jump to Saturday footy.

The reconvened U19s may form local rivalries against Old Paradians, PEGS, and St. Bernards of the northern suburbs, with the remaining opponents mostly being U19 development sides of VAFA Premier clubs. Three U19 home matches will be 9.20am curtain-raisers (round 2, 4, 16 [seniors round 15!]) to form a tripleheader alongside Brunswick NOBs reserves (11.40am) and seniors (2.00pm), making for great days to get down to see local amateur footy at Gillon Oval.
