Partners in life now partners on field

Long time housemates and self declared ‘the very best of friends’ Brendan Sheehan and Nick Evans have taken a further step towards their impending civil union by playing at the same football club. Nick made the switch from the arch enemy the Fitzroy Reds over the off-season, and although he has yet to play a game because of injury, his presence has already seen Brendan recapture some of his previous best form and rejoin the senior ranks.

In an unrelated story an unnamed NOBSPC player who is both a lawyer and long time civil rights advocate, believes Australia is now ready under the Rudd government to move with the times and recognise all forms of unions.

Backmen hit by two cars within 12 hours

Several weekends ago running defender Adam Crameri was unfortunate enough to be hit by two cars within 24 hours.

The first incident occurred when Adam, attempted to get into an already full car had his foot run over by the driver. Early reports indicate that Adams cries of pain brought nothing but laughter from the other passengers.

The second incident is believed to have occurred when Adam rode his bike to pick up his car the next morning. A car backed out quicker than Adam anticipated, striking Adam and sending him flying over the handle bars. Thankfully Adam was wearing not only a helmet, but shin and knee pads and was thus unharmed.

Police believe both incidents were caused due to neither driver not being able to see Adam’s ghostly presence.

Taken out star pulls on the boots

Handsome “Taken Out” star Brendan ‘Willsy’ Wills has agreed to pull on the boots for the NOBSPC side this year, despite protests from his management who are worried injuries may curtail his blossoming career on the silver screen.

Willsy, the old fashioned romantic who is also a ‘rock star’ by night has already made a big impression at the club, being declared the best talker out of both the seniors and reserves sides.

In response to the signing the NOBSPC administration are now believed to be searching for a larger venue to stage the annual ladies day luncheon.

“When it was requested that I be the runner last week, it reminded me of another runner a few years ago.

It is 1979, A-Grade Seniors vs Old Paradians at their dunghole, about round 7. Our playing coach is highly–respected Shane Maguire and he has a Young Assistant Coach (YAC) who occasionally doubles as the runner. The YAC believes the team is lacking leadership, so as the runner this day he decides to bring his own version of leadership to the game. He belts no.16 , one of their better players, and as the two umps try and quell the ensuing all-in-brawl, the YAC jogs casually back to the bench. OP’s little rover is squealing like a pig, jumping up and down and yelling to the umps “the runner did it, the runner did it”.

Fast forward to about round 16 and we are playing Old Paradians at our home ground Brens Oval in Parkville. Our runner this day is also our YAC and clearly he still thinks the team lacks leadership, because he belts one of their players (not sure if no.16 again) and as the two umps try and quell the ensuing all-in-brawl, the YAC casually jogs back to the bench, once more having given the team his particular brand of leadership. The OP’s rover is jumping up and down and squealing like a pig, “he did that last time too, he did that last time….”

Lawyers have advised NOBSPC Confidential not to reveal the name of the runner, and all we’ll say is that he still has a massive involvement with the club…
