We are thrilled to announce the appointment of past player Luke Mahoney as the new senior coach of Brunswick NOBSPC.

Luke started his senior footy career with North Old Boys in 1994 and, the next year, won the club’s Best & Fairest in our last season in A-Grade while still a teenager. He then played in the VFL for Williamstown for two seasons before returning to the VAFA and his old school in St Kevin’s Old Boys, where he remained until his retirement in 2010. At SKOBs he played more than 200 games, won three B&Fs, was club captain for four years (including a B-Grade premiership) and represented the senior VAFA representative side on six occasions.

In 2012-13 Luke was a senior assistant coach at SKOBs under Daniel Harford and in 2014 coached the VAFA Premier B-D4 representative side. This year Luke was the coaching director at SKOBs and oversaw that club’s promotion to Premier A as the seniors went through the whole season undefeated.

While Luke has served an ideal apprenticeship for a senior coach, it was his passion for Amateur footy and the depth of thought he has applied to his coaching plans that most impressed the selection panel. Luke has described himself as very excited to be back at the club where he started his footy career in a role he has been looking forward to taking on since his playing days ended. We are equally excited to be able to appoint a candidate of such high calibre as our club seeks to rise through the grades.
