A word from coach Luke Mahoney

Boomer had a fantastic season taking out his second B&F in 2 years at the club. He was our “Mr.Fix-It” this season, playing wherever we needed him the most, starting at CHB, spurts on the ball, the ruck or forward. He was finally settled in the forward line for the second half of the year where he became a tricky match up for any team with his pace, fitness and agility for someone of his size. A great output of 33 goals also saw him take out the goalkicking award, highlighted by 13 goals in the all-important last 3 weeks of the season. Added to the leadership group this year, Boomer always led by example on the training track or on the field. He puts himself in the best possible condition, working hard with Robbo at his gym during the pre-season. Looking forward to another big season out of Boomer in 2017!

Doc in his first year at the club also had a great year, making an instant impact at the club finishing a close second in the B&F. Switching between the midfield and forward, Doc could always be depended on when the side needed a lift with his hard edge. A great mark and booming kick, Doc was always a handful for any opponent. In his first year as a playing coach, Doc was also a valuable addition to the coaching group.

Only playing 12 games for the season, TC finished 3rd in the B&F was awarded the most consistent award. TC returned to the club this year and had an influence in every game he played. Whether it was racking up possessions on the wing or drifting back with courage taking intercept marks in the backline, he was a very reliable performer. Unfortunately we didn’t have him for the last 6 weeks after a nasty wrist & finger injury ended his season early.

Kingy was a deserved winner of the Most Determined after a career-best season. He had an enormous pre-season and is a great example to the rest of the team about the value of hard work (another result from MaxResults). Kingy could always be relied upon giving a 100% each week, whether it be creating forward pressure, a hard tag or finding the ball himself.

Foxy was another player who improved enormously this season. He received the coaches award due to his willingness to improve, seek feedback and dedication to training. In only his third season of Aussie Rules football, Foxy’s football smarts got better each week and I’m looking forward to what he will achieve in 2017.

Ev was awarded best first year player after a solid season for the club. Ev filled the role of first ruck for most of the year with stints up forward and across CHB making an important contribution to the side’s performance. A very agile and quick player for his size, Ev is another player who will only get better with more football and coaching under his belt.

Robbo was awarded most improved after some standout performances late in the season. At the start of the year, Robbo was already a senior player who contributed on ball or through the wing, but finished as a really important member of the onball division. Still only a young player, there is loads more improvement in Robbo to come.

Congratulations to all award winners and milestone recipients, especially Nathan & Judd for their wins in the reserves best & fairest. A special mention to Best Clubman winner, Jarryd Browne, who thoroughly deserved his award. Whether it be organising the club’s apparel, making sure players were registered or ringing around late on Friday night to find some reserves players, Browney did a power of work for the club. It is people like him that our club is built upon!
