Brunswick NOBSPC is delighted to advise that Domenic Perrone will receive a Certificate of Merit at the VAFA Season Launch on Wednesday March 29 at the MCG Members Dining Room.

Domenico Salvatore Perrone arrived at North Old Boys in early 1979. Dom was quietly determined and persisted with training and played his first U19 game late in 1979 and played 12 games in U19 Premier Division in 1980.

He played a total of 145 games for NOBS until his retirement in 1996 without playing a Senior game. Dom often claimed if he was six inches taller he would have played AFL.

Whilst his footy career was largely forgettable, his kick in from full back in a howling gale at Gillon Oval that went back over his head and through for a point was unforgettable.

Dom has done his best work off field. He joined the Committee in the mid 80’s and helped with Socials and Finance. He served as Treasurer from 1988-1990 and was Vice President in 1993-1995. In 1996 he was elected President and remained in the role for four seasons. During his Presidentship the club went from B Grade to C Grade and then back to B Grade after Dom appointed Frank Dunell as Senior Coach in 1997.

He continues to serve on the Committee and has helped arranged raffles, enticed sponsorships, signed recruits, sacked coaches, poured beers, time kept, umpired, planned social events, made many long speeches and importantly made many people welcome.

In February 2017, Dom is again on the Committee. He has played the past five seasons with the Brunswick Mudlarks Over 47’s. He is a great link to the past with players and supporters alike and has helped unite North Old Boys, St Patrick’s and Brunswick where his son and daughter play in the juniors.

His connection to North Old Boys spans four decades and his work on the Committee for more than 30 years warrants this special recognition.
