24 May 2008 – Round 7

Under 19s NOBSPC 15.11.101 def Old Xaverians 11.9.75

The boys went into the weekend’s game unsure of what to expect, with Old Xavs being 5-1, it was going to be a battle from the word go. With our ruck divisions running thin due to injuries, some big names had to step up and deliver. From the first bounce, it was toe to toe, with some impressive first half efforts from the back line, shutting down some key forwards for the Xavs. You could cut the tension with a knife at half time, level pegging with nothing to lose, the boys were keen to show who were the better side. The centremen consisting of Joss, Newbold and Dullard worked tirelessly to provide options for a star studded forward line in Seb Oliver, Will Quayle and Nathan Hull. Between the three of them they managed to kick ten goals, to give us a lead that was beyond catching. Running home 25 points victors, it was the best win of the season thus far.

21 June 2008 – Round 10

Under 19s: NOBSPC 3.7.25 def by Therry Penola 10.10.70

The weekend’s match was one that was a make or break game for the boys. Only sitting in the four by percentage, the win was vital in remaining in the hunt for September. Only having 17 players, from late exclusions, we were battling against the odds from the start. Remaining goalless up until early in the 3rd quarter, and Therry exploiting our undermanned outfit, it was a disappointing day. There were some highlights to take out of the game though. The boys from St. Hilda’s and St Mary’s were once again consistent in their contribution. Tom Atkins, Jye Childs, Seb Oliver and Paddy Ryan played well, with a special mention to Jack O’Connor, who returned from injury and led well all day. Next week will be the biggest test so far taking on Aquinas, lets hope we can get everyone on the park this time.

Goals: Valente, Oliver, Grinter
Best: Atkin, Childs, Sheehan, Ryan, O’Connor, Oliver

Club 18s: NOBSPC 18.5.113 def Therry Penola 4.4.28

The Clubbies travelled out to Oak Park to face the last placed Therry with potentially regaining 2nd spot our reward. Spirits were high and the wide open spaced forward line was working a treat. In a great team performance, Evans starred with 10 majors, Chester was good all day and B. Papal and Kemp were the best of the on-ball brigade. Only downside for the day was the hamstring injury to Trimmers which means the 200 game celebrations will have to put on hold for another fortnight.

Goals: Evans 10, R. Papal 3, Dunning 2, Piccolo, Cariss, Rapa
Best: Evans, Chester, B. Papal, Overman, Kemp
