If you looked up the definition of pocket rocket in the dictionary there would you find this week’s player, Fern Speechley. Disco (In-Fern-o) has only been with the club a short time but she’s made a huge impact already. In her first hit out in a practice match there were more than a few supporters saying “Who is that blonde who is everywhere?”.
A fierce quick mid and small forward, she is straight at the contest and flies high against much taller opponents. She’s in most contests and despite her slight frame, gets right in and under too. Disco never thinks she’s out of it and will endlessly fight ferociously hard. All of these qualities make Fern a true Renegade, and also show she does share qualities with her hero, the great Brent Harvey.
