The North Old Boys community mourns the passing of Mary Moloney on Sunday 16th August 2020 after a long battle with illness. Mary was married to Club Legend George Moloney (dec) and leaves behind son Stephen, daughter Karen and extended families. George Moloney coached NOBs seniors in the mid 1970’s and remained a strong figure around the Club well after his coaching days.

Mary along with her “boundary rider partner” Margaret O’Toole (dec) with others spent over 20 years making their presence felt (& heard) at Brens Oval and the early days at Gillon.

Opposition players, spectators and even umpires where not immune to “constructive criticism” where it was deemed warranted. “Get back to your farm McDonald” was a common call thru the 1980’s. McDonald was a senior umpire with The VAFA.

Mary assisted where requested on game day, at functions and NOBs members where always welcome to their home in Glenroy.

Stephen Moloney (played in the late 1980’s to early 1990’s) was once described by the then VAFA GM Phil Stephenson as the “perfect prototype for an amateur footballer”.

Our sincere condolences go out to Stephen, Karen and family at this difficult time.
