Match Report

The Prems game started with a bang as three quick goals put St Bedes in front. The pressure was on and the opposition kept the Reno’s on their toes. Despite the initial setback on the scoreboard in the first half, Brunswick emerged from the halftime break with a positive mindset. They played the game as if they were already on the up, and their determination paid off as they dominated the second half. Their relentless effort and refusal to back down put St Bede’s on the back foot, they were not expecting a fight or a challenge on the scoreboard.

Slim, finding her voice, demonstrated agility and skill by accepting a perfectly timed handball on the run, ultimately slotting a game-changing goal. This contribution injected newfound energy and momentum into the team, turning the tide of the game. Larry, continuing her unstoppable season, further solidified her reputation with a textbook perfect goal from a free kick in the pocket. Her precision and technique were on full display, leaving the opposition in awe of her abilities.

In a surprising turn of events, Kingi stepped up to the ruck position and showcased their versatility. With two perfect taps, Kingi displayed their adaptability and quick thinking. Tahlia’s consistent performance did not go unnoticed, as they were recognised for their efforts with a four-pack of beer from St. Bedes. Tahlia’s commitment and contributions throughout the game were deserving of this acknowledgment, flying high as always we suspect Tahlia “T4” Hayes had the most intercept marks of the game.

Coach Sash emphasised that the real victory came from the team’s unwavering spirit and their ability to stand up to challenges. This turning point marked an important moment for the Reno’s and what they are working on in season 2023.

After two hard-fought games, a freezing post-match dip was deemed necessary to rejuvenate and recharge. That was the bravest thing of the day!
