Match Report
After a rather disorganised start with portable changerooms on the street, game time confusion and a delayed umpire the ressies went out wanting to make it 2 in a row.
Facing a tough, physical opposition they had their work cut out for them, showing great resolve and spirit at every contest. It was fantastic to see Goanna and Bumpmaster Butterly back out on the paddock in the green and purple.
Jane and Lara were resolute and brave in defense, repelling advance after advance from Mentone. A brilliant handpass from Liz hitting Caitlin on the run resulted in a brilliant goal whilst Stasi fought hard all day and kicked a team lifting sausage roll.
The Renos were unlucky on the injury front, losing Kerry early to a concussion, Maddie to a broken leg and Dr Bush who was playing an absolute blinder, to a knee injury. But the team embraced those players after their injuries and continued to battle all day.
With a limited bench and a lack of interchange the Renos didn’t slow down, Coach Ryan rested players on field and they soldiered on against a fast-finishing team.
With just over a minute to go the Renos were only leading by a couple of points and Mentone were on a roll looking like they might just snatch victory. We needed something special and Caitlin created that escaping a congested pack to snap truly and seal the victory for Brunswick.
