Situated just outside the inner city at Gillon oval on Victoria Street in Brunswick and affiliated with St. Patrick’s College Ballarat, Brunswick NOBSPC (North Old Boys St. Patricks College) has a rich 50 year history within the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). The club was able to climb into the Premier divisions in 2013, with its first Senior premiership in 2012 for 30 years. The club has over 100 registered players with 3 senior teams competing in the VAFA. NOBSPC also has a very strong affiliation with the Brunswick Junior Football Club and Brunswick Renegades.

Origins

North Old Boys Amateur Football Club was first been formed in 1932, before being expelled from the VAFA in 1939. It was re-formed in 1963 by past pupils of St Joseph’s CBC North Melbourne, joined the VAFA in E Grade and won their first flag in 1964. By 1968, NOBs had achieved promotion to A Section, the first and only club to be promoted through the grades in consecutive years. After returning briefly to B Grade NOBs moved back into A Section in 1972.

NOBs stayed at the highest level of the VAFA for the next 23 years (a record that has only recently been broken) and in that time we won two A-Section flags (1976, 1982) and played in six losing Grand Finals. After such a long time in the competition elite, NOBs suffered a slump in the mid-’90s. Fortunately, the strength of the Club’s support and reputation saw the slide quickly halted. After several seasons in B Grade, NOBs remains committed to returning to its rightful position among the top rung of the VAFA. In 1990, North Old Boys moved from Brens Oval, Royal Park, to Gillon Oval, Brunswick (corner of Pearson and Victoria Streets), making our playing and training venue the envy of the VAFA.
