Peter Hevey is a legend of the Club, known to generations of players and families. He first joined the Committee in the mid 80’s and has run the operations of the Club ever since. Together with his wife Dawn and Carolyn you will find them volunteering their time at home games to run the canteen and bar. Not surprisingly, Heves is a life member of the Club.

Where did you grow up? Pascoe Vale South – the correct side of the Moonee Ponds creek.

Nickname and why? Heves, (I even got Jeeves off Seco for a year, luckily that didn’t stick)

Where did you go to School? Of 4 schools I attended only one is still open St Fiddlesticks. I went to St Joes (Paco and North Melbourne) so, I am a bonafide NOB.

What was your playing career? St Albans as a junior 50 games (disbanded U15s), brief stint at NOBs U15s under Brendan Casey’s name. Did not get a clearance even though the Club I was coming from couldn’t field a team! Brief stint West Coburg U17s where Jimmy Dalrymple, our midfielder drove to the games in a Ford Escort van. Played a season at St Olivers (did not fold but are now known as North Coburg Saints EDFL), 50 Reserves and Clubbies games NOBs now known as Brunswick.

Playing career achievements? U11s 5th in the BnF – Most Reliable Trophy. Peaked early in my career. Played in three GFs – no luck!

Major Injuries? Strained a fatlock sprinting to the fridge at St Olivers.

NOBs and Brunswick Club Honours? 34 years on the committee and taken on every role except Treasurer and President. A bit worried about doing either of those – the club might fold. A Leo Smythe Award, Life Member and Honorary Life Member.

VAFA Honours? Certificate of Merit 2015.

AFL/AFLW team? North Melbourne FC.

Favourite player in the AFL/AFLW? Marley Williams and Sarah Dargan.

Best player seen at Brunswick/North Old Boys? Best goalkicker – toss up between Jex’s silky drop punts from inside the goal square or Simon Minton Connell’s shots from 50+ metres – tough one that. Both hardly missed. Best is a tough one, also, Dom Perrone or Kewy? Matty Kweon because of his aerial ability.

Best player seen off the field at Brunswick/North Old Boys? 3-way tie Tonks, Sleepy and Fog.

Professional Career? Retired Secondary teacher. Working for myself.

Family? My wife Dawn, who is my greatest support and is also a life member at Brunswick FC. I shared a Leo Smythe best club person 2006 for services to hotdogs.

What will it be? The familiar face of Peter Hevey behind the bar.
