One of Club’s wins for 2018 has been the recruitment of Nick Burgin. He was selected in the leadership group as Vice Captain, made the VAFA Big V squad and has been named in the best players 8 times up to round 11. Just as important as his playing record has been the way he has conducted himself off the field around the club.
Grew up: Essendon
AFL/AFLW team: Richmond
Schools: St Monica’s Primary Moonee Ponds, St Bernard’s College Essendon
Playing Career: Aberfeldie FC U10s – U18s, St. Bernard’s OCFC 2013 – 2017
Major Injuries: Broken heart after losing a grand final in under 10s, tears were flowing. Had both my hips operated on in 2015.
Playing career achievements: Playing on the MCG in a Herald Shield Final in 2012, U18s Premiership & Runner Up B&F at Aberfeldie.
Best thing about playing for Brunswick: Playing with my closest mates. Will always remember the quarter and a bit we all played together at Ormond before Weston smashed his collarbone into 4 pieces. I love the friendly atmosphere and making a bunch of new best mates, making Ben Wilson promise to handball to me at dinner the night before a game and Young Henry’s (not a paid endorsement).
Best player seen on the field at Brunswick/North Old Boys: Daniel Mott will be a player, believe the hype. I would have loved to have seen Peter Carter in his prime.
Best player seen off the field at Brunswick/North Old Boys: Too tough to call this early on. Good early form from Danny King and the man behind the bar Adam Bevanda.
Professional career and current location: Podiatrist – Podiatry & Orthotic Group (Bundoora & Epping)
Vice Captain Nick Burgin
