Kate Sullivan is like part of the furniture at the Renegades, always around with a smart comment and a great brand of footy. On debut in 2014 in her first ever game of footy she roved like a pro and soon became a regular goal kicker for the team as well as playing an important role in the midfield.

When not sledging other players about their AFL teams losing, she loves filling up her balcony with millions of avocado plants.

  • Nickname: Maddog
  • Occupation: Nurse
  • Hometown: Grew up in Echuca on the banks of the mighty Murray.
  • AFL Team supported: Essendon
  • Greatest sporting achievement: Under 17 Murray League netball grand finalist, couple of Renegade club runner up B&Fs and a league runner up B&F (anyone sensing a theme here?)
  • Pre-game ritual/Superstitions: Never wash my boots and as much I wanted to change my number to 32 (Timmy Watson), but I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of #36.
  • What should we expect from you on match day? Trying to copy Woodhouse (but I’m not crazy enough to actually go in nose first). Aiming to lay a hard bump or tackle/making the opposition earn their possessions.
  • What sports do you play when you’re not playing football? Netball. I can shoot goals for days with a round ball which is more than I can say about my goal kicking.
  • If you weren’t a nurse, what would you do? I’d own my own nursery with the slogan “putting the nurse in nursery”!
