The BJFC AGM report of 2016 identified that the Club had prepared and lodged a Grant application for lights to be installed on Clifton Oval. This initiative was deemed a necessity given the growth of the Junior Club over the preceding 6 years, while Gillon Oval was now at its maximum usage (25hours per week).

The LED option was the one chosen, given their longevity, less power consumption and reduction in light spill. President Ali Beswick was the driving force behind initiative and grant applications were made to the AFL, SRV and Moreland Council over 2015-2016.

As the 2017 AGM report identified, the Junior Club was able to convince Moreland CC to apply for funding from the State Government (up to $100,000), which was successful. This also followed a visit to the Gillon Oval and Clifton precinct by AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan in 2017. Senior and junior clubs will be contributing $20,000 and AFL Victoria contributing $20,000. The addition of lights to Clifton augments the training facilities for both Junior and Senior Clubs throughout the football season.

Construction commenced in late 2018 and by end of May 2019 the lights at Clifton were now fully operational. Well done Brunswick Dragons!
