The senior men’s team are excited to announce a new leadership group for the 2018 season. The captain of the football club will be Danny King. Danny is the last surviving member of our last under 19 team in 2008, which is a highly relevant example with our under 19 team starting up again this year.

Danny started in the reserves and was a dour defender in the 2009 and 2010 premierships.

He is an excellent example of perseverance in driving himself to be the best he can be, moving into the seniors after solid preseason’s and hasn’t looked back since. Now one of the first picked every week. Loved by all around the club, a life member and 150 game player, Danny will lead by example in what will be a pivotal year for the club. Congrats Danny and good luck!

Danny will be ably assisted by James Schmidt, Jarrod Bye and Nick Burgin in Vice-Captains roles.

James is the son of North Old Boy Michael Schmidt who played over 150 games for the club and will be in and about the midfield chirping to anyone who will listen.

Jarrod is one of our tall defenders who will take on the big key forwards of the competition. Quiet and unassuming, but fierce in the contest, Jarrod shows genuine care for his teammates and club alike.

Nick rounds out the group in what is his first year at the club after transferring in from St. Bernard’s. Smooth as silk, vocal in the contest and likeable around the club, he is a welcome addition to the team and leadership group.

This is a real nod towards the future, with the three Vice-Captain’s being relatively new to the club, emphasising the respect they have earned quickly from their peers and coaches. Young and energetic, they will long provide leadership to the young generation that will push forward in the Purple and White.
